The state of
Nebraska awared a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract to Qwest Communications to provide a multi-purpose data network.
The contract includes services previously provided by Qwest to the state, as well as additional network capacity to support Nebraska's expansion of its statewide multi-purpose telecommunications backbone. The statewide backbone serves state agencies, schools, state colleges, community colleges, and university campuses.
"Qwest is pleased to provide the state of Nebraska with a solution that is superior in quality and provides the best value for the state and all of its residents who will benefit from the network," said Rex Fisher, Qwest state president for Nebraska. "Our continued commitment to customer satisfaction in Nebraska is a positive contribution to the communities this network will serve."
"This is another critical milestone toward creating a statewide system that will serve a wide range of existing and potential users," said Lt. Gov. Heineman. "We want to acknowledge the spirit of cooperation and collaboration, which made this project possible."
