Multi-Purpose Data Network

The state of Nebraska awared a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract to Qwest Communications to provide a multi-purpose data network.

The contract includes services previously provided by Qwest to the state, as well as additional network capacity to support Nebraska's expansion of its statewide multi-purpose telecommunications backbone. The statewide backbone serves state agencies, schools, state colleges, community colleges, and university campuses.

"Our continued commitment to customer satisfaction in Nebraska is a positive contribution to the communities this network will serve."

"This is another critical milestone toward creating a statewide system that will serve a wide range of existing and potential users," said Lt. Gov. Heineman. "We want to acknowledge the spirit of cooperation and collaboration, which made this project possible."
